Covid 19’s Impact on Project Timelines
As we endure the current global pandemic, it is more important than ever to have a reliable source for high quality in-stock generators to defeat increasingly long lead times.
|Approximate Lead Time for Factory New Orders:|
|100 kW - 450 kW||Up to 14 Weeks|
|500 kW - 1000 kW||Up to 16 Weeks|
|1250 kW - 3250 kW||Up to 28 Weeks|

Like most industries today, the critical power segment continues to feel the strain as a result of the unprecedented global pandemic.
At a local level, engineering submittals, permitting, and ancillary equipment quotes are taking longer as a result of COVID-19 required practices. Additionally, the demand for electrical contractors has grown exponentially given widespread power outages caused by storms in the east and fires in the west. Timelines for preparing permitting packages in many local permitting offices has more than doubled.
These delays can have a disastrous effect on project timelines, as a purchase order for new equipment cannot be made until the permitting process is complete. Lead times for new generators continue to grow as a direct result of this pandemic. Currently, all major manufacturers are scheduling deliveries into to late Q1 of 2021 at the earliest for new equipment orders.
As a result, it is more important than ever to work with a generator provider that can offer in-stock, high-quality new and used generators to help overcome these lengthy time delays. Because of GPS’s ongoing relationships with businesses nationwide, we are able to acquire top quality surplus and low hour used generators for our inventory. We can often provide our customers with used or surplus options, saving valuable time and money compared to a new generator purchase.
One perceived advantage of purchasing a new generator from the factory would be the warranty. However, GPS has warranty coverage for all used generators to be used in a standby application.
