Stored Energy Systems (SENS) was founded in 1971 by Herb Kaewert, an M.I.T. graduate and battery industry veteran. Recognizing the need for smarter battery charging solutions, Kaewert leveraged his experience at Alkaline Batteries Corporation to launch SENS in Silicon Valley. His vision: develop chargers that addressed the critical sensitivities of industrial batteries—temperature, shelf life, and charging practices.
