West Coast Spine & Wellness
When strict California emissions regulations threatened to delay the opening of a new healthcare facility, West Coast Spine & Wellness needed a compliant backup power solution fast. See how Global Power Supply navigated permitting, construction challenges, and an accelerated timeline to keep the project moving.
West Coast Spine & Wellness
Health Care Project
As West Coast Spine & Wellness prepared to open its new medical facility, the existing backup generator no longer met Ventura County emissions requirements and needed to be replaced. With new emissions standards scheduled to take effect on January 1, the project quickly became a race against time. The initial conversation began just before December, leaving only days to secure permits before the regulatory deadline.
Global Power Supply worked closely with the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District (VCAPCD) to expedite the permitting process while coordinating demolition and site preparation so work could begin before final approvals were issued. During construction, the team encountered several unexpected challenges, including modifications to a load-bearing retaining wall and a permitting process that became more complex than originally anticipated. By maintaining close coordination with the customer, contractors, and local authorities, the project continued moving forward despite the evolving scope.
As the project progressed, additional NFPA 110 life safety requirements increased the commissioning and testing scope beyond the original plan. Global Power Supply adapted quickly, coordinating the expanded testing requirements and updating the remote annunciator to integrate seamlessly with the new generator. Despite these unexpected changes, the team completed the installation with only about one week of downtime during the final generator changeover.
The result was a fully emissions-
compliant 160 kW HIPOWER backup power system delivered on an accelerated schedule, helping West Coast Spine move closer to opening while providing dependable emergency power for years to come.
Global Power Supply stepped in with a tailored approach and by leveraging supplier partnerships, secured three in-stock MTU DS3000 diesel generators and engineered lightweight aluminum composite enclosures to meet rooftop requirements. Working in collaboration with the general contractors and onsite teams, Global Power oversaw a complex delivery process that involved street closures, crane operations, and around-the-clock onsite support from Global’s teams, manufacturers, and local contractors.
Within the tight timeline, the units were successfully installed and secured, providing Legacy Investing with reliable backup power that ensured compliance and uptime for their data center tenant. The project highlighted Global Power Supply’s ability to combine engineering expertise, supplier relationships, and cross-team collaboration to deliver results under pressure.

“Global Power was one of the easiest companies to work with that I have encountered. I received a spreadsheet showing a timetable for the work to be completed and they finished ahead of schedule. I would highly recommend this company. The staff was great and always kept me in the loop about what the next steps were and communicated daily in person about the project.”
