UNIVERSAL LOAD BANKS MODEL R2000TR LOAD BANK

The Model ULB R2000TR is a state-of-the-art, high capacity trailer-mounted resistive load bank system intended for testing and routine maintenance of stand-by generators, UPS, or other AC power sources. Designed for mobile outdoor use, the ULB-R2000 load bank features horizontal vertical hot-air discharge to keep the overall height to a minimum. This allows entry in parking garages and other areas with low height clearance. The load bank is digitally controlled via an on-board PLC with touchscreen display and includes standard digital metering with data acquisition and data logging.

The ULB-2000 load bank features a modular design with common subassemblies which improves quality and shortens lead-times. For example, for 1000 KW testing, only one load module is needed. For 2000 KW testing, two modules are used in daisy-chain mode with a common digital controller.

The load bank enclosure is rated NEMA-3R and is suitable for outdoor operation. The cabinet is constructed of heavy gauge steel with a durable polyester powder coat finish. The cabinet has hinged access doors with lockable latches. Cooling air is drawn in from the front end and the hot air exhaust is directed out the back end. Hinged solid intake and exhaust doors protect the load bank from road debris when the load bank is being transported. The load bank incoming power connections (from the generator or source under test) are made directly to industry standard, quick-connect Cam-Lok receptacles with no tools required.

The load bank can be provided as a “trailer-ready” unit for mounting on customer provided trailer or complete with a highway duty rated trailer featuring heavy-duty welded steel construction, dual axles, and radial tires. Load cable storage reels (with lockable cabinets to prevent cable theft) are available as an option. In general, each cable reel can store up to 600 feet of 4/0 load cable. Optional load cable sets are also available.

ULB’s proprietary resistor load elements provide the necessary power loading for each individual load step. The resistors are constructed from precision nickel-chromium resistance alloy and are fully supported within the air stream by stainless steel rods which are insulated with high-temperature refractory ceramics. Heavy-duty, PLC controlled magnetic contactors provide load application of each load step.

The load bank resistor elements are forced-air cooled with a heavy-duty, three-phase, TEFC electric blower motor with a high-performance direct-drive fan blade. The blower motor can be powered from the main input load bus (test source) or optionally from an external three-phase supply source. Motor starter circuit is fuse protected and includes an overload relay.

STANDARD DIGITAL LOAD CONTROLS

The load bank is digitally controlled via an on-board PLC with touchscreen display and includes standard data monitoring (Voltage, Current, KW, and Frequency) with data acquisition and data logging. The digital controller includes a wide range of safety circuits including cooling-air loss, over-temp, over-voltage/under-voltage, and load dump. All load is automatically removed and locked-out in the event of a safety circuit trip. A hard-wired Emergency Stop (E-Stop) switch is also included.

The Model ULB-2000 load bank is the new industry standard for modular trailer mounted load banks and is backed by years of expertise in load banks.
