Emergency Backup Power, Plan Now For Weather Related Power Outages

Temperature forecast Summer 2016

According to the latest outlook from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, and presented in an article on climate.gov, “Most of the continental United States is facing elevated chances of well above average summer temperatures.”

Power grid failures, blackouts, and brownouts can occur during extreme heat, when demand for power is very high. The prediction from NOAA is a reminder that it’s a good idea to plan ahead for summer heat related power outages, but that is not the only outage that a critical facility must account for.

Upgrades and expansions of facility electrical infrastructure can cause power outages, it’s a good idea to have a backup power supply in place – either permanent or temporary. We have solutions for both. Something as seemingly small as a squirrel can have a major effect on a facilities’ power supply. The Washington Post has mapped squirrel-induced power outages and it is not a small figure.

Here at Global Power Supply, we specialize in providing emergency backup power systems for all types of businesses, from hospitals and data centers, to telecommunications and manufacturing facilities. With a little bit of information, we can help your business be prepared for any emergency backup power need this summer or all year round.

Here is an abbreviated list of the information we can help you with in selecting the right equipment for your power application:

Site Power Requirements:

Power capacity, temporary or stationary or both. Facility compatibility from basic connectors to getting electrical engineering support. We know big and small projects.

Delivery Time:

Always a critical conversation to have with your power sales person. Read our Realities of Lead Time post for a snap shot on the process and things you might underestimate.

Local Codes:

Applicable laws and regulations. For instance – distances from buildings, other equipment, or fuel storage regulations.

Emissions:

Solutions that comply with EPA standards for stationary diesel engine air quality pollutants.

On-site Engineering Resources:

Project management is a key GPS service provided, from pouring a slab to a fully tested startup and beyond. We are a single source provider.
