For commercial and industrial businesses that rely on power continuity to maintain operations, don’t let weather related power outages leave you in the dark – protect your business with an emergency backup power solution today.

Power outages can be caused by many factors, and many of those are related to weather events. From the extreme heat that has been affecting large areas of the country this summer, to powerful storms, high-wind events, and of course hurricanes. All of these weather events have the potential to cause short-term or long-term power outages. Of course when it comes to extended power outages, hurricanes are one of the major causes for concern, but it is also one that businesses can prepare for.

The extreme summer weather events and related power outages affecting many areas of the country are expected to continue, and notably – NOAA forecasters have increased their Atlantic hurricane season prediction to “above normal” status. While recent history has already demonstrated that hurricanes in the Atlantic are consistently developing later into the year, this updated forecast means that businesses should be prepared for the real potential of additional hurricanes and tropical storms this season. One of the main factors that led to the updated forecast is record warm water temps in the Atlantic Ocean. Per the updated NOAA report, “forecasters believe that current ocean and atmospheric conditions, such as record-warm Atlantic sea surface temperatures, are likely to counterbalance the usually limiting atmospheric conditions associated with the ongoing El Nino event.” Hurricane season officially lasts until November 30 and according to the numbers, NOAAA’s updated season forecast calls for a total of 14 to 21 named storms, 6 to 11 hurricanes, and potentially 2 to 5 major hurricanes.
